Achielle

Fourth Floor got its start with Dutch bikes. In 2006 we were importing Dutch bikes only to discover that much of the Dutch industry was moving its frame production to China - lowering quality without lowering costs. That was disappointing. However, many of the frames produced for these Dutch bicycle brands were made by Dija-Oostcolour, a small but sprawling factory in Northern Belgium with Europe's finest craftsman and paint shop. Dija-Oostcolour, founded by Achiel in 1946, realized it was time to stop making bikes for other brands and make bikes for themselves. In honour of Achielle, the first Achielle rolled off the line about ten years ago. These are quality European bikes, made the right way, and while beautiful in design, are built for the high level of longevity a Dutch cyclist expects.
